Elliot Irwin Wax

My father had many stories about his colorful past. Owning his first car at 14 years old, "running numbers" for the cops, causing havoc during his time in the Navy, etc. He grew up in the South Bronx in 1940s and '50s, and although he was bright, he was a bit of a troublemaker. The unfortunate side effect from this, was that he never finished high school. His behaviorial issues, may have been the result of his father's death in 1949. He never seemed to recover from that loss.

His first marriage was brief and produced a son he named Ralph after his father. His second marriage was to my birth-mother Eileen, and their union produced my sister and me. His third and final marriage was also his longest, having lasted 25 years.

My father worked in printing most of his life. His first father-in-law worked in printing and told my father that he would never amount to anything. This inspired my father to not only go into printing, but to eventually attain a position as a manager at the company his former father-in-law had worked at when he made this proclamation.

He was an avid fisherman and boater. Some of the best times I remember with him were on the boat and fishing.

Birth: April 20, 1939 to Ralph and Ada Wax.
